About Me

Kia Ora, I’m Kate

I’m a Kiwi living in Melbourne with my family, an alarming amount of Lego, and an ordinary number of books.

I have immersed myself in stories – both reading and writing them – for my entire life. I still remember the delight of getting my very first library card, when I was eight. And ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been making up stories (which have come a long way since the first one: “I like cats.”)

We Who Hunt The Hollow is my debut novel. It won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Young Adults in 2023. The sequel, We Who Are Forged In Fire, was released August 2023.

I like coffee, sunshine, sci fi and fantasy, marshmallow, martinis, lip balm (I always have at least one Carmex on me), cute earrings, and reading. And I still like cats.

You can find me at Twitter, Threads, Bluesky, and Instagram.
